Pastor Udy (The Mean Man of God)

Hello peeps, how's life with all? Briefly I'll like to share in the spirit of the season.

Quickly let me introduce to you Pastor Udy and his Un Dying-commitment to Young-people.

Tall, fair skin, clean shaven 6ft plus, fine boy Pastor... Of course Married. Udy is one of the pastors at the Water Brook Church Lagos Nigeria. A career professional and probably a unilag x-bad boy turned born again.

Anyway enough of the introduction, working with young people requires grace but more than that requires boldness to deliver the right word.

At the water brook church, we have a unique blend of leaders, from the "been there done that" looks of Pastor Del Balogun to his fine girl no pimples wife called Amanda; to the fashionable Mrs P and the always dressed in white businessman Pastor tolu to the always calm and confident pastor seyi and a host of other hands that God uses to nourish the young ladies and men at the water brook.

I decided to single out Pastor Udy to exemplify the quality of leadership we have in-house.
From my initial introduction of Pastor Udy, he looks cool and probably romantic but the truth is he is mean. Udy's love and care is true and mean;uncoated and blunt as it concerns telling you the truth of Gods word concerning any situation. Pastor Udy is to twb what Prophet Nathan was to King David.

There are times in life you'll need to be told the truth, as a generation, we are at that time. We are at that time when somebody needs to tell us the impact of sin on the overall wellbeing of the believer, we need to be told that no amount of prayer can solve our relationship issues when we constantly put up the wrong attitude. We need those words and the like of Pastor Udy and all other Pastors at the water brook seem to have a hold on that.

Its become a common norm for leadership of youth groups to tilt the message to please the youth, what's more annoying is when the church buys into the "please me now" type of messaging. We forget too soon who's the boss. God is not democratic, He is God and servants of God have a responsibility to deliver the message as nice as possible without loosing the weight of the message. In clear terms, if being mean does it, please pastor, be mean.

There's something in us that hates correction, we want to have our way, infact the bible says there is a way that seem right unto men but the end thereof is destruction. The leadership of the water brook church is a pool of resources and experience that every young lady and man can draw from. You need to speak up, discuss your issues/frustrations with them, talk to either the mean men of God or talk to the gentle Amanda or Mrs P. Its said that problem shared is problem half solved.

At the water brook mid week service in 2011, we heard the need to put away your past and don't let it hinder your future. We heard a message about giving. We hear so much about tactical decision making. This are uncommon words spoken to us at a time when so much emphasis are place on "Lord Bless Me" kind of message around us. The water brook is forging character in young people. The intricacies of sucess as exemplified in the bible is such that character of God is a key factor to fulfilling destiny. From the concept of the new birth to the constant working out of our salvation with fear and trembling. All these are essential for the maturity of a believer. What we have at the water brook is an investment aimed at securing not just you as you know it but an investment that secures your relationships and the ability to choose one, the security of marriage, business, family and the nation in general. The water brook is purging the Generation Next; with fine, yet mean words. This words are scripture based analysis and the benefit of what we share at the water brook is indicative in the little changes that sprout forth in our lives.

The best way to fully articulate what you hear at the water brook is to practice daily. The bible places emphasis not on the hearer but the doer of the word.

So from the likes of Pastor Amanda and Del Balogun to the likes to Pastor Udy and Tolu and all the leaders at the water brook church; we say keep it mean and keep it coming. We need those words even when we don't feel good about it.

For you my friend, get involved, either at the water brook church or in your own local assembly, love rebuke, love correction. Give God a chance to do what you have failed trying to achieve by your own power.

God bless you.
