Fisrt Impression

First impression

It’s a great privilege to be able to write in the TPH review when you have an opportunity. I am excited, not just because I want to contribute but because I want to relay a perspective that I feel might help one or two persons.
Quick one, my name is Godwin, I am a member of TPH, and I’ve been around for about say 7yrs. I am one of those persons that go and go due to work, I am part of a team, we own a business, it’s a very good thing, but the challenges that come with this enable me understand many things about God and thus far it’s been amazing. When I say amazing, I don’t mean every business venture has worked but I mean I have been through a lot yet I can say I am still standing.
In business, we meet all sorts, from good to bad and urgly, we just learn to accommodate and draw the line. Anyway I have this friend, he’s a Christian or let me say he’s a church goer, that means he goes to church but acts lawlessly if you know what I mean, its like a dog eat dog thing for him in business, he can do anything to get anything. Now you have an idea.
He was in Lagos one Sunday morning and he called hey Godwin, I want to visit your church, I said; good… so we went to church, it was the usual thing tph is known for, a continuous attempt to relay the standard called excellence. Everything went well, I was always observing my friend to see if he had any dissatisfied look on his face but nay, he was good through out, PT went on and on(inspiring sermon), the choir did their magic and the ushers showed off with style .I was proud to be a member of TPH.Hahahahahah.
Anyway service ended and we headed home, he (My friend) was quiet……I asked, guy wassup, how was church? He goes: Godwin…Did you hear anything the pastor said; I said yes, he said cos Oboy I no hear anything oh, I never see anything like this before. I asked what? He goes, see LEVELS, see the chicks, how person go fit hear the word of God for this place? We laughed and he said a lot about the ladies and how they look imported and classy and bla bla bla.
As funny as the experience above might seem, it meant a lot to me, it showed that someone could come into church and becomes speechless not because of what we do wrong but because of how well we invest into doing whatever we do as a house.

First impression counts, it’s so important that we keep a high spirit in everything, my encounter with my friend opened my eyes and taught me the need to get better at what I do, I mean everything. We cannot begin to drop standards just because we don’t feel appreciated, in fact I was getting tired of working on myself to be better when God used my friend to teach me that it pays to do better.

We might not feel it but trust me guys, we are making inpact, my friend is now a committed member of a church in Abuja, he now insist on a higher standard and I know on another visit, he’ll not just see the message, he’ll hear it.

God bless you.
